Vive La Ville Marie!

The East Coast Canadian leg of our current tour has just wrapped up. We saved our hometown of Montreal for last and the crowd sent us off down the road with a deafening roar. The packed house at the beautiful Theatre National was one of the best we've ever had, instilling a sense of civic pride in the whole band. Nuge has decided that his chances of become mayor of Montreal have never been better. Bonne chance mon ami! Danielle Duval joined us on stage for a great encore performance of Thursday night's Toronto show. Receivers, led by Joseph Donovan (co-producer of Chemical City) kicked-off the night with their inaugural show, to a warm reception from the crowd. Joe had been filling-in for James during his convalescence and basically saved our hides. He learned the songs in a matter of days and we played our first show within a week. Thanks Joe for the zeal, hard-work and good times on the road. We'll have some shots of the show up as soon as we get 'em. See you in NYC.

The Phoenix Rises Again

Thanks to all the people who came out to the show in Toronto on Thursday night. To hear people singing along to an album, barely two weeks out of the gate, was an experience we won't soon forget. We were lucky to have my cousin, Danielle Duval, a singer-songwriter from Montreal, with us to perform The Resistance and The Bootleg Saint and the family grapevine is still buzzing. Thanks to Malajube, once again, for another great set. They've made a lasting impression on the Ontario crowds for the past ten days and we hope you'll continue  support them. We've added some photos to the media page so check them out...

Malajube - Don't Miss 'Em!

We're three-deep with Malajube and just felt the need to tell you they're amazing. If you have a ticket for any of the upcoming shows featuring Malajube, make sure you get there in time to check them out. Trust us on this one. And on a related note, we're very happy to announce that Receivers will be opening for us in Montreal on Saturday night. For those of you who don't know, Joseph Donovan who not only co-produced Chemical City, but also filled in for Jimmy on a few shows recently, is in a band, Receivers, and they will be with us at Le National this Saturday. Awright!

Ottawa: 5 Alarm Show

Well, it was an interesting one last night in Ottawa. We'd been looking forward to the show for months, knowing that our fans here are some of the best we have. The show started with a great deal of promise and and the crowd was just getting revved up when the fire alarm went off after 3 songs. Turns out it was due to the smoke machine on stage so we kept playing. The bell rang throughout the next 5 songs, luckily it was a G so there were moments when it blended-in like a bag-pipe drone. What we didn't realize was that the fire alarm shut the PA down, so the crowd couldn't hear a word we were singing for that whole stretch. Anyway, we're sorry to all the folks who came out and had to sit through all that, but thanks for your patience. The last half of the show was great and we're grateful that you all stuck with us.

The Mother Of All Tours Underway

After a week of talking about making music, it was a relief to actually play some. The days surrounding the record release were filled with interviews, TV appearances and other pleasantries, so we were lucky that a scheduled show at Call The Office, in London, Ont. summoned us back to our normal life. There was an incredible energy in the room; the air was hot, the people crammed together like sardines in a tin can, the band played with as much fire as we've felt in a long while. I was amazed at how many of you knew the words to an album barely 4 days from release, it was a very uplifting experience for all of us. We moved to Sarnia next where the White Witch and Aslan were waiting for us. Memories of our last trip there, including a flight in a stunt plane with a man named Pitch, the ensuing nausea and recurring dreams of standing on the wing of a bi-plane with a goggle-wearing Border Collie for a pilot, were on the brain as we pulled in for the gig. The Saturday night crowd was looking for action. They got that and more when Mr. Tumnus showed up and all hell broke loose. The White Witch escaped Aslan's wrath but not before Edmund had puked Turkish Delight all over her ice-dress.

In other news, James still has a few more days of rest and recovery to go but we've been lucky to have him back for some of the shorter T.V. performances. It won't be long before he's back for good and thanks again to Joseph Donovan for the great job he's done at keeping us all together. Tommorrow we have the MTV performances with Kanye West and we'll see you in Peterborough, Ottawa and Kitchener/Waterloo this coming week.
